Netflix is eyeing a move to broadcast the WTA Tour after Amazon Prime's contract expires in 2023 with the ATP, not their goal.
Amazon Prime will lose the right to broadcast tennis at the end of 2023 with a fellow giant looking to move into the market. Netflix has been flirting with broadcasting sports for a long time now and they seem interested in moving into the tennis market.
They have already made an initial move into the market with their tennis documentary set to air next year. It will probably serve as a chance to gauge interest in continuing tennis coverage on the streaming platform. Reports also suggest that Netflix already sent a bit for the ATP Tour but pulled out of the deal.
This seems like it would be an utterly tremendous development for tennis fans, given the current hellscape of stateside streaming.
