Russian tennis star Darya Kasatkina admitted she is disappointed to be banned from competing at Wimbledon but noted there are many more important things in the world that need to be addressed.
On Wednesday, Wimbledon banned Russian and Belarusian players from competing at The Championships. It's a decision that was almost universally criticized in the tennis community as in its essence it's quite discriminatory. Darya Kasatkina, one of the players affected by the ban admitted that she is disappointed but also pointed out something else:
“Of course we players are disappointed that we’re not allowed to be part of one of the biggest tournaments in the world. But there are much more important bigger things happening in the world right now. Human lives are much more important."
