Not only did Donna Vekic upset Coco Gauff in terms of sealing the win against the odds in their match at the Olympic Games but she also did so literally as the World No.2 was left in tears over a line-call.
After a tight opening set that lasted more than an hour, Gauff broke serve but ultimately lost the last five games. Vekic who went on to win 7-6, 6-2 in the Last 16 broke again in controversial fashion.
Hitting a return deep to Gauff's forehand, the American mishit into the net, the shot was then called out by the umpire. But the umpire then reversed the original call. The point was awarded to Vekic and this visibly upset the American.
The Croat went on to seal the win with the moment being a real dampener on the match for Gauff. She complained emotionally that it always happens to her.
