For those who watch
Daria Kasatkina's What The Vlog series on YouTube,
Mirra Andreeva is a focal point often appearing including hilariously to interview players during Rome in the canteen. They face off again at the
French Open in one of the main ties on Monday for a spot in the Quarter-Finals.
Kasatkina brushed aside Paula Badosa today 6-1, 7-5 and after pretty indifferent form at times, it is finally starting to click when it matters most.
The Australian faced off against Andreeva last year in Ningbo which was won by Kasatkina and saw Andreeva cry afterwards. It has been a stark difference since with the now 18-year-old collecting titles and becoming a top five star.
A stark contrast to that point but one that has been coming after her displays over the last few years. Andreeva was lauded by Kasatkina who called her super talented and will achieve a lot in the sport.
They will also have to put aside their budding friendship in what will only be their second meeting after that Ningbo final albeit no doubt the vlog will continue to provide entertainment.
“I hate her. No I’m kidding," joked Kasatkina in her post match press conference.
“Me? The only thing I’m helping her is to get on the vlog. She’s a very nice girl and amazing player. We’ve been quite good with each other. I can even say I think we are kind of friends [smiling]. She’s super young and super talented. She will achieve a lot of things. This will be just our 2nd match. We’ve practiced so many times. Let’s see. The last one in Ningbo was a big drama match. Let’s see what happens here. We’ve never met on clay before. Looking forward to this. It’s gonna be fun.”
