Ons Jabeur recently became the first Arab woman to win a WTA title and followed that up with a Wimbledon quarterfinal berth.
The Tunisian player is paving the way for Arab women around the world not only in tennis but professional sports in general. The Coronavirus pandemic is still raging across the world and her native Tunisia is no different. To help with the fight Jabeur decided to auction off her racquet to help the fight against the virus.
In a video posted to her social media, she explained that besides the funds raised by the auction she will also make a personal donation to support patients infected with the virus and the campaign against the virus generally. She said:
"The situation in my country is getting more and more difficult so I got the idea to auction of my racquet starting at 2000 dinar (720 USD). I am hoping this auction will be very successful and the money that will be raised will go towards buying medicines."
