Ons Jabeur recently became the first Arab woman to win a WTA tour-level and it capped off a long journey for the Tunisian player.
It was never an easy journey but Jabeur found a way to become successful coming from a part of the world where tennis is not widely established. After defeating Venus Williams at Wimbledon she even admitted it's not easy:
"Being the only Arab is not easy to be on tour right now. Hopefully, you never know. Maybe now someone is watching and wants to be here in my place. I just want to say if I did it, it’s not impossible."
Ons is hoping to share an inspirational message in order to bring more people from her background to the tour. Jabeur said her ultimate goal was:
"Like I said before, I always try to inspire other generations."
Venus Williams was also complementary of Jabeur and what she has done saying:
"You’re gonna see a whole other generation of women from North Africa coming into tennis. It’s going to be all owed to her."
