A hard-fought win for the world No.1... @ashbarty overcomes Anna Blinkova 6-4, 6-3 on Centre Court #Wimbledon
World No.1 Ashleigh Barty will not be the latest seed to fall at this year's Wimbledon in the women's draw but it was a hard fought victory over Anna Blinkova 6-4, 6-3 over on Centre Court this afternoon.
There were plenty of errors from both with nine double faults from Barty but it was Blinkova who produced them at the key moments which allowed the Australian through.
This included 33 winners despite the same number of unforced errors with 6/15 break points converted.
Next up will be another tough test though for Barty as she faces Katerina Siniakova who saw off Coco Vandeweghe in three sets earlier today 6-4, 2-6, 2-6 and with the World No.1 not at her supreme best, it could yet produce a shock.
At the moment out of the WTA top ten, only Barty, Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek are through meaning in certain sections it is now wide open once again.
Will Barty make her way through or will Siniakova stop her momentum?
