Ons Jabeur proved too difficult for Diane Parry to overcome beating the French player in straight sets 6-2 6-3.
Jabeur played very well at Wimbledon last year, reaching the quarterfinals, but she explained the goal is to win it this year. It's a lofty goal but she's a pretty good candidate to do so considering just how well she plays on grass and considering Iga Swiatek doesn't play that well on grass. So far it's been going well for her as she took little over an hour to down Parry from France.
She smashed Parry at the start of the match taking a 5-0 lead. While it looked pretty on the scoreboard it was much tougher than it seemed. There was a lot of battling and the French player did not give it away too easily. Jabeur fumbled away the chance to finish it off with a bagel but she did finish it 6-2.
The 2nd set featured much-improved play from Parry who was holding on pretty well to start the match but eventually, Jabeur wrestled control away from her taking a break late in the set. She finished it off with another break 6-3. Solid effort from Jabeur who had 22 winners and only 14 errors.
