Chinese tennis star Qinwen Zheng reunited with tennis coach Pere
Riba in a post that appeared on social media.
The 35-year-old has recently left the young American tennis
star Coco Gauff because of family reasons. In a post that appeared on social
media, Zheng announced a reunion with Riba. Zheng will be hoping that reuniting
with Riba will help her take the next step in her already promising career.
The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the most highly-rated
players in the women’s singles category currently playing the sport. She had a
more than impressive year at the highest level where she lifted the WTA titles.
In the Palermo Ladies Open, Zheng defeated Italy’s Jasmine
Paolini in the final with a score of 6–4, 1–6, 6–1. Later in the Zhengzhou Open,
the Shiyan-born defeated Czech Republic’s Barbora Krejcikova in the final with
a score of 2–6, 6–2, 6–4.
Other than that, Zheng also played in the quarterfinal of
the US Open — which was her best outing in a Grand Slam event — where she was defeated
by the current world number two Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets with
a score of 6-1, 6-4.
