Magda Linette from Poland surprised everyone at the Bronx Open in New York by winning all eight tournament matches and so winning her first WTA title.

Linette showed a great form and almost flawless performance at the NYJTL Bronx Open before the US Open, where she will meet Astra Sharma from Australia in the first round, losing just two sets during the entire tournament.
After Karolina Muchova in the quarterfinals, Giorgi was just the second player to take the set away from her.
The match started very wildly when we could see 4 breaks in the first 5 games. Then the game settled a little and the match went up to a score of 5-4 and 15-0 for Linette. At that time, Italian took the initiative and won 12 points in a row to get the first set on her side by 7-5.
However, in the second set, it was Linette who started it better. She led 3-0, but then lost her service in the seventh game and the score again showed 5-4 for Polish. This time she got to two set balls, but she didn't use either. She used her third set ball to win the second set 7-5.
The final match showed everything that belongs to it and so players fought in the third set. Linette did not start ideally when she lost her first service and was losing 2-4. But since then she has not lost a game, winning 16 points out of 19 and winning a decisive set 6-4.
In the new edition of the WTA ranking, Linette moves to a career high to 53rd place after winning her first WTA title.
