British tennis star
Emma Raducanu recently opened up about the stress of being a Grand Slam champion, stating certain people around her have been trying to take advantage of her and piggyback off her success.
The 20-year old said some people in the industry were trying to capitalize on her success, with the aim of using her as a 'piggy bank.'
"You have to be on guard because there are a lot of sharks out there," she said speaking to The Sunday Times. "I think people in the industry, especially with me because I was 19, now 20, they see me as a piggy bank.
"It has been difficult to navigate. I have been burned a few times," she admitted. "I have learned, keep your circle as small as possible."
After winning the 2021 US Open as a qualifier, Raducanu has been ravaged by injuries. Now ranked 128th in the world, she recently underwent double wrist surgery that will see her miss
Wimbledon.
