Emma Raducanu is likely losing her status as the top player from the UK to Katie Boulter as her injuries still have her away from the courts with no certain return date.
Emma Raducanu is not playing tennis right now as the British player underwent triple surgery a month ago to fix multiple issues that have plagued her in the past year. Raducanu underwent surgery on both of her wrists and one on her ankle to fix everything that has been bothering her. The hope is to return fully healthy and then rebuild her career with consistent and good tennis.
Due to her inactivity, Raducanu is slowly losing her points which means that her ranking keeps dropping. Right now Ruadcanu is out of the top 100 with fellow Brit Katie Boulter really close to her. The latter is currently playing at the Surbiton event and she made her way into the quarter-final where she'll play Viktorija Golubic later today.
A win would give Boulter enough points to overtake Raducanu as the top player from the UK. It's likely going to happen as she's a really good grass player who has had notable performances on the surface for a while. Golubic is too but she hasn't played that much tennis lately which hurts her chances.
Raducanu's slip is certain to continue as she doesn't know when she will return. She won't make a return on grass with perhaps the US Open stretch a possible time of returning to tennis. It's where she experienced her best moment so far so it would be a really great place to make a return. Her next tennis-related activity will happen this month in China for the exhibition event but there is very little chance that she'll actually step on a tennis court and play some tennis.
