Britain’s young tennis star
Emma Raducanu has revealed that
she is not a ‘lavish spender’.
The 20-year-old is currently spending a lengthy time out of
the court after struggling with fitness concerns.
Despite not being involved in any action, Raducanu remains
very active in different social gatherings as well as on social media
platforms.
The Toronto-born was recently quoted in a report where she
stated that she has been taught by her parents the value of money.
“I wouldn’t say I’m a lavish spender,” she said. "My
parents really taught me about the value of money and not to spend or splurge,
and that’s become really useful for me growing up."
Raducanu broke onto the scene in 2021 when she lifted the US
Open title after beating Canada’s Leylah Fernandez in the final with a score of
6–4, 6–3.
That victory was even more special considering that the young
tennis started her campaign through the qualification round.
But since then, things have gone downhill for Raducanu who
has found it hard to continue the winning momentum, largely down to injuries.
This year, the former world number 10 participated in just
one Grand Slam — the Australian Open — where she was knocked out after losing
to current world number three America’s Coco Gauff in the second round in
straight sets with a score of 6-3, 7-6.
