Reigning French Open champ Barbora Krejcikova, who returns to #2 next week, pulls out of another event; hasn’t played since February.
Barbora Krejcikova pulled out of Rome continuing her long absence that started way back in February due to an elbow injury.
Barbora Krejcikova set the world on fire last year with her superb play on clay and it culminated with a victory at the French Open both in singles and doubles. She opened the season okay this year but an elbow injury completely derailed her season including the clay part of it where she was so dominant last year. The last time Krejcikova played was in February and she is yet to play.
Elbow injuries are very tricky to heal and Stefanos Tsitsipas carried one for months last year before finally opting for surgery to get rid of the pain. It's unclear what's really wrong with Krejcikova and how well her recovery is going considering she has not spoken about it publicly but another pullout (Rome) so close to the French Open is not good news.
