World number two Aryna Sabalenka faced off against Roland Garros semifinalist Tamara Zidansek and the Belarussian was more than convicing. Zidansek mainly known for her clay court prowess looked completely out of sync against Sabalenka who is more than comfortable on hard courts.
Sabalenka dominated from the baseline in the first set winning it 6-3 after strong overall player. She served well, she was dominant when hitting her first serve and created havoc on Zidansek's 2nd serve. All of that continued in the 2nd set which she won with 6-1 moving on rather easily.
Joining her in the 2nd round will be Elena Rybakina who is continuing to play well on hard courts. She only narrowly missed out on a medal in Tokyo but she is back to winning ways in New York. Her opponent was Caroline Garcia who had a solid showing in New York before.
Rybakina came out furious completely smashing Garcia who did not know what hit her.By the time she realized it was already over with Rybakina taking the opening set 6-1. It was a near perfect performance from Rybakina that she did not replicate in the 2nd set mainly becuae Garcia played better. Still she on the 2nd 6-4 to move on.
