Serena Williams and
Ons Jabeur played another solid doubles match to take down Chan and Aoyama and move on to the semifinals 6-2 6-4.
The pairing demonstrated even better chemistry this time around taking control of the match early. Jabeur and Williams demonstrated better ball striking ability early which frustrated their opponents as they were unable to handle them at the net and in play. After taking an early 3-1 lead they continued applying pressure and finished off the opening set 6-2.
They were superb on their own serve dropping only two points behind the first serve. Both served really well and did not allow a single break point in the opening set. The 2nd set was much closer as their opponent were able to solve some problems in real-time.
Neither pairing was able to break the other despite both having chances in pretty much every game in the first six games of the 2nd set. Eventually, Jabeur and Serena were able to find a breakthrough late to take a 5-4 lead and then finish it off with 6-4. A good win and the semifinal in Eastbourne. A final looming? Find out in the next few days.
