Serena Williams matches Chris Evert's Major record

The seven-time champion Serena Williams is through to her 13th Australian Open quarter-final, two decades after advancing into the last eight for the first time as a teenager.

Serena ousted Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in two hours and nine minutes in the Melbourne fourth-round, securing another quarter-final berth to add a massive milestone to her already impressive tally. Serena reached the first Major quarter-final at the US Open 1999, heading all the way to claim the title and staying competitive for over two decades. The 39-year-old has secured her 54th Major quarter-final appearance, matching Chris Evert's record that had stood alone since 1989!
