Serena Williams retires from her 1st round match, out of Wimbledon

Serena Williams is out of Wimbledon after retiring from her first-round match vs Sasnovich.

Serena Williams took a tumble early in the match due to the slippery courts which have been bothering players all day long. Denis Shapovalov protested earlier in the day calling the courts dangerous to play in. After the tumble, Serena looked very uncomfortable on the court.

She called for a trainer and stepped out for an MTO. When she returned she had a bit of limp and it became clear she had a thigh issue. The thigh in question was already heavily taped before the match. At 3-3, Serena was seen crying at the sidelines after which she retired from the match.

A terrible and unfortunate outcome for Serena with the weather causing massive problems for the organizers. The match was played under a closed roof which contributed to the surface being slippery.
