Serena Williams to play Osaka in Quarter-finals of Rogers Cup

Now, these 2 meet again on Rogers Cup in Toronto, Canada. Serena Williams is one of the most successful tennis players in the whole history of women's tennis. And besides that, she was also an idol for young Naomi Osaka.

Osaka disappointed Serena in the 2018 US Open final when she refused to be beaten and so she did not allow Williams to collect her 24th Grand Slam victory. Since then, the two former world number one's did not meet on the circuit until now.

Serena is playing very good tennis in Canada when she hasn't lost a set yet. She has won her 2nd round match with Mertens two time 6-3 and she has also defeated Alexandrova in the 3rd round 7-5, 6-4. But the same applies also to Osaka who can become world no.1 again after this tournament. She had an easier 2nd round when her opponent Maria had to give up the match. In the 3rd round, she defeated Swiatek 7-6(4), 6-4.

We can expect nothing else than a huge fight from these two. They meet for the 3rd time and Osaka has won on both occasions. In the 3rd match on the centre court, we will find out if Serena can finally beat the youngster.
