When
Simona Halep trailed 1-3 in the 2nd set it seemed like her season was over however the Romanian fought hard to come back and win against Paolini 4-6 7-5 6-0.
It was almost another very disappointing loss for Halep who found herself on the brink of defeat against Poalini when she lost the opening set and trailed 1-3 in the 2nd set. The Italian was giving Halep a lot of problems especially when she failed to hit her first serve attacking her constantly. Halep was not able to respond forcefully in return until very late in the 2nd set.
The start of the match featured a very good start by Paolini and she found herself up 3-0. Halep looked very shaky committing a lot of mistakes but also failing to win her 2nd service points. The hard-hitting style of Paolini proved difficult for Halep to handle especially since the Italian was hitting with a lot of precision.
The Romanian would battle back to make it 5-4 with her serve coming up but she then completely botched it by getting broken once more to close out the first set with 6-4. Halep started off the 2nd well breaking Paolini but she also gave it right back. She then lost her serve once more for a 1-3 deficit. She was able to come back from that making it 3-3 before starting to play even better and taking the 2nd set with 7-5.
The 3rd set featured a complete falling apart by Paolini who could not do anything right anymore. All the shots he hit in the first set she was missing now with the ball sailing wide on the majority of her groundstrokes. That made it rather easy for Halep to complete the comeback with a final set bagel. A great comeback by Halep who continues fighting for the trophy in Linz.
