Simona Halep withdraws from Bad Homburg semifinal clash with Andreescu due to a neck injury

Simona Halep and Bianca Andreescu were supposed to play the first semifinal of the Bad Homburg Open but the Romanian was forced to withdraw.

It's a terrible development for Halep who has been working hard these past weeks and playing many matches on the grass to get ready for Wimbledon. She won the event in 2019 and certainly hoped to return to the event in a strong fashion.

It's unclear what type of injury it is or how severe it is but it's probably precautionary due to Wimbledon starting in a couple of days. Andreescu advances via walkover to the final where she will face either Cornet or Garcia.
