Simona Halep was not supposed to play anymore this year after undergoing nose surgery but she will play after all.
One of the events she will play is an exhibition event in December in South Africa. She accepted an invitation to the Africa Cares Tennis Challenge that will also feature former world number one Martina Hingis.
It will be held in Johannesburg from December 3rd till December 4th. Other players that will take part in the event are Sloane Stephens and Ons Jabeur as well. The aim is to help promote South African tennis, and highlight the ongoing fight against gender-based violence in the country.
Halep said:
"As a tennis player I have been inspired by many and am always pushing to the highest level, so it is definitely an honour to encourage the same through this event, while giving awareness towards the issues of Gender-Based Violence."
