Elena Rybakina rampantly defeated Greet Minnen 6-2, 6-3 to reach the second round of the 2024 French Open on Court Suzanne Lenglen. But while she will be pleased with her opening efforts, the questions of the journalists left her more and more agitated.
Rybakina called out the journalists for asking the same questions and constantly ended questions getting more and more frustrated and asking for something else.
She started speaking about how she was compared to last year when she had Covid and also the conditions. "It didn't affect me in any way, I know how to play in different conditions. For sure physically I'm much better than last year because I had to withdraw. Now I'm much better. The questions are quite the same so I don't know what to say anymore," said Rybakina in her post match press conference.
Also asked about what it takes to have success, she continued to lament the questions. "Same as previous years. It's quite basic, you have to work hard. Do the things you don't want to do. Simple questions, simple answers. So guys something else?"
It was duly noted that she wore a custom kit from Yonex which she confirmed wasn't the case and she quickly batted away that question. "No I was last year also in Yonex. These colours I didn't choose, it was the brand who chose for me. So some other questions?"
Before seemingly being asked again about Iga Swiatek to which the press conference was basically curtailed. "She's at the top for long and I mean I think if you can stay for as long as possible. It's a great thing. I don't know what to say guys." Next up is either Arantxa Rus who is a set up or former World No.1, Angelique Kerber in the second round which will likely get played on Wednesday.
