Former world number two Agnieszka Radwanska has joined Magda Linette’s coaching staff. The development was confirmed by the 32-year-old in a post on her official Instagram account with a caption: "Someone pinch me! @ARadwanska just joined my team!"
According to tennis insider Michal Samulski, the former world number two will work as a second coach in Linette’s coaching staff. “Agnieszka Radwanska joins Magda Linette’s coaching team as consultant and 2nd coach. The initial assumptions for now: cooperation until the end of the clay court season and 8-10 weeks of direct working. Credits: Break Point podcast made by @MarekFurjan and @CeltDawid,” he wrote.
Radwanska retired from professional tennis in 2018. She finished her career with 20 titles, but unfortunately, she never managed to win the Grand Slam. Her most impressive performance in the mega-event came in 2012, where she finished as the runner-up at Wimbledon after losing to the former world number one America’s Serena Williams with a score of 6-1, 5-7, 6-2. Other than that, she also played in the semifinal of the Australian Open on two occasions, but on each occasion, she finished on the losing side.
In 2014, Radwanska lost to Serbia’s Dominika Cibulkova in the last-four clash in Melbourne in straight sets with a score of 6-1, 6-2. Two years later at the same venue, the Krakow-born lost to Serena in the semifinal in straight sets with a score of 6-0, 6-4. Radwanska’s biggest triumph in her career was the WTA Finals title in 2015. She defeated Czech Republic’s Petra Kvitova in the final with a score of 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
Linette will be starting the 2025 season, knowing that she did not have the best of the seasons last year. In 2024, she played in 54 matches across all competitions, winning 28 and losing 26 in the process. Her best outing in the season was in Pragu,e where she won the WTA 250 competition after beating fellow countrywoman Magdalena Frech in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-1.
