She was later followed by Danielle Collins who is unstoppable at the moment. First, she has won the 2019 Hawaii Open, then she started the tournament in Australia with victory over Svitolina. Now she swept Putinseva off the court in less than an hour with 6-1, 6-0 victory.
The last American victory was taken care of by the 8th seeded player at the tournament, Madison Keys. World no. 13 defeated Sam Stosur, who outplayed Angelique Kerber in the first round.
After dominating Day 3 in Australia, the United States have sill Sofia Kenin and Jennifer Brady who will play their 2nd round matches in the following days. US players have also already secured the spot in the semifinals as Danielle Collins will take on Madison Keys in the quarterfinals.
