Bianca Andreescu finally played a match back home in Canada and the player was very emotional after her win on Tuesday.
Bianca Andreescu won two WTA 1000 Masters events in her career and one of those was in 2019 in Canada. Two years after winning the event Andreescu made her return and played a great match. Her opponent was Harriet Dart from the United Kingdom and the heavily favoured Andreescu prevailed 6-1 3-6 6-3.
The Canadian was very emotional after the match saying:
“I had all the feels. It was super emotional at the end. I got goosebumps walking on the court. Having the crowd cheer so long, it’s just a crazy feeling. I’m so happy the tournament was able to be played."
Andreescu was very comfortable early wining the set 6-1 to the delight of the crowd. However, she would need three sets to complete the win. After the match she admitted she did feel some pressure but the crowd helped her a lot:
“There’s always going to be pressure, but I really use it to my advantage, especially here at home. Having that crowd support really helps me. Win or lose, I know they’re always going to have my back, so that definitely relieves a lot of pressure.”
