Rafael Nadal withdrew from the National Bank Open (Rogers Cup) in Toronto before he was due to face off against Lloyd Harris who successfully saw off lucky loser, Feliciano Lopez on Tuesday evening.
Nadal was seen with a left foot injury in particular during the Citi Open Washington and admitted when withdrawing to struggling to everyone's viewpoint against Jack Sock.
"I have been in pain for a couple of months; I wanted to try to compete in Washington and Toronto, even at this state. People saw I struggled a lot against Jack Sock. My left foot hurt even during practice sessions, and I hoped it would get better," said Nadal.
"That's why I came to Toronto, hoping to move better and enter the competition. That was not the case, and I had to withdraw."
