Svitolina and Linette ease through to third round at Thailand Open 2020

Elina Svitolina, who is top seed at the Thailand Open continued where she left off in her opening round tie defeating Storm Sanders, an Australian qualifier in just 57 minutes.
This comprised of a 6-1, 6-2 victory for the Ukrainian ace who continues her good form in Hua Hin. Next up will be eighth seed Nao Hibino who herself came through yesterday in her second round match.
Magda Linette who is seeded fifth is also through after defeating Shuai Peng in their Last 16 match. It was a straight sets win for the Polish ace who won 7-5, 6-1 in just over an hour. Next up is another Chinese ace in Xiyu Wang who defeated Barbara Haas 6-3, 6-4.

- I heartily disagree with Stubbs here. I mean c'mon! The whole idea of giving out wildcards is to give new & up-coming players a chance at getting as much circuit match-practice under their belts as possible. And this is a HUGE must and opportunity for these new kids on the block. Why curtail opportunities for these newbies in favour of stalwart monopoly?? That just isn't fair. At least give these lesser known players a chance to become more familiar at playing in bigger tournaments & give them also a chance of getting the crowds behind these underdogs.
