Elina Svitolina and Elena Rybakina advance to the semifinals of the Internationaux de Strasbourg following victories against Teichmann and Zhang.
Elina Svitolina is slowly returning to form after being absent for the majority of the first part of the restart during the North American tour. Today she continued her winning run in Strasbourg with a straight-sets victory against Teichmann. It didn't start off well for her as she lost her serve immediately in the 1st game. She recuperated very quickly eventually leveling it at 3-3 before taking the initiative late in the set to clinch it 6-4.
The 2nd set was a chaotic one where Elina took the early lead 2-0. She then lost 3 games in a row out of which two were on her own serve. She broke Teichmann in the next to make it 3-3 before winning the next three games in a row to win the set 6-3. She awaits the winner of Sabalenka and Siniakova.
Prior to Svitolina, it was Elena Rybakina who booked a place in the semifinal. It was a stellar performance from the Russian who controlled the match from the beginning. She broke Zhang midway through the 1st set to take a 3-1 lead which she maintained throughout the set until she clinched it with 6-3. She completely dominated the 2nd set where she took an early 4-1 lead which she conveyed to a 6-2 2nd set victory. She will face Hibino in the semifinal tomorrow.
