The
WTA Finals this year will be held in Forth Worth in Texas and
Iga Swiatek and
Ons Jabeur are the first players to officially qualify for the event.
The eight best WTA players in the current season will go head to head in the WTA Finals that will this year be in Texas. Last year they were in Guadalajara and Swiatek took part in it but she didn't enjoy her stay there. Jabeur narrowly missed out on the Finals but she was injured as well so she would have likely skipped over them regardless.
Both of them will be in Texas though as they have now officially qualified for the event. Swiatek said:
“I’m really excited to qualify for the WTA Finals this year for the second time in my career and I’m really looking forward to playing in front of the fans in Fort Worth."
Jabeur added:
“It is such an honor to qualify for the WTA Finals. It was my goal from the beginning of the season to play the tournament and I can’t wait to compete as one the top 8 players in the world.”
They played in two finals this year with Swiatek proving better in both Rome and the US Open recently. Perhaps 3rd time will be the charm for Jabeur.
