Eugenie Bouchard got another chance to play some WTA tennis but the Canadian was beaten by Tatjana Maria in a close match 7-6(5) 7-6(5).
The Canadian had a decent stay in Chennai and hope to bring the same level to Korea and she did but she was beaten by a player who was slightly better. It was a very tough draw for her because Maria is far better than her ranking but she is missing her points from Wimbledon hence why the ranking. It was a very long match lasting over two hours despite being only two sets.
Bouchard was better early but she squandered the only break chance in the opening set. We saw a close tiebreak with Maria having the upper hand for the majority of it and finishing it off 7-5. The second set was a bit more interesting. The German jumped out to an early 3-1 lead but Bouchard broke back straight away.
The Canadian saved a couple of more break points and actually took a 5-4 lead squandering a set point in the next game. After that, we ended up in a another tiebreak and this time around it was Maria again who proved better. The score was the same 7-5.
