Jil Belen Teichmann and Elina Svitolina advanced to the next round of the Internationaux de Strasbourg following victories on Tuesday.

Elina Svitolina and Jil Belen Teichmann advanced to the next round of Strasbourg following victories on Tuesday against Magda Linette and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Teichmann played a very good match against the Russian and it ended up being an extremely close match. The first set started off good for Teichmann who took an early 3-1 lead but failed to hang onto it with the Russian tieing it at 4-4. Pavlyuchenkova even had a chance to win it at 6-5 but failed to convey her service game allowing Teichmann to force a tiebreak.
In it it was the Swiss who played better winning it 7-3. The 2nd set stared similar with Teichman taking an early break and Anastasia fighting back, even taking a 5-3 lead. Once again she failed to win the set on her own serve giving Teichmann more than enough momentum to swing the game. She ultimately won four games in a row to secure a 7-6(3) 7-5 victory.
Elina Svitolina had to dig deep in her own match as well. She had an early lead 3-1 but she could not hang onto it. She broke Linette once more but again failed to hold onto that lead. We ended up in a tiebreak and it it it was Svitolina who completely took over winning all seven points required to win a tiebreak. The 2nd set opened slowly with Linette being the first one to strike, breaking Elina early to take a 3-1 lead. She would add one more later on to give herself a 4-1 lead but Svitolina pulled one back immidietly.
She would managed to keep the score close but at 5-4 Magda served for the set despite her level of tennis dropping steadily since the 4-1 lead. Elina seized that opportunity to break Linette and tie the game at 5-5. She would go on to win her own service game before winning the next one as well to clinch a 7-5 2nd set victory. It's a good win for Svitolina who was very lucky in the 2nd set especially late but she will take it.
