It didn't start that well for 17-year old Fruhvirtova who lost the first set against Sherif 0-6 but then came back to win the next two 6-2 6-3.
Much is expected from Fruhvirtova this year and this was a really solid performance. It didn't start that well as Sherif was on top of her taking the first set 6-0. It was just a bad start from the Czech player as she didn't serve well and couldn't do much in the rallies. She played far better in the next two sets finding a good rhythm and more importantly finding what works against Sherif.
One reason why things worked out is that Sherif didn't serve as sharply. Linda had more looks and she took it giving Sherif a lot of problems in the rallies. The Egyptian is a very aggressive player who loves to attack but she's also prone to quite a few errors. We saw plenty of those in the second set but also quite a few in the final one.
Fruhvirtova was a bit lucky in the second set as she dropped her serve first giving her opponent a 3-2 lead. Sherif blew it by losing her serve and then she lost it once more to give Fruhvirtova a 3-5 lead which ended up being a 3-6 finish.
