Spain’s tennis star
Paula Badosa has expressed her desire to
have kids someday. The 26-year-old was once regarded as one of the best players
in women’s tennis, but her consistent fitness struggles have made it difficult for her
to produce positive results consistently.
Badosa was recently quoted in a report expressing
her desire to become a mother someday. The New York-born stated she always wanted
to have kids despite admitting she still has a ‘long way to go’. Badosa
also stated that one of the reasons for having a maternal side is because of
being an elder sister in the family.
“It (motherhood) has always been very important to me and I
have had it in mind since I was little,” she said. “I have always said that I
would like to be a mother, obviously, I still have a long way to go, but it is
something that I feel especially with my sister, who is 11 years younger than
me and with whom I have always felt a very internalized maternal part.”
Badosa has been in the news recently for having a
relationship with Greece’s tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas. The two have been
dating for more than a year and are now considered a power couple in tennis. On the tennis side, Badosa is not having a great season. She returned
to the court earlier this year after spending nearly 12 months on the sidelines.
In the first Grand Slam of the year — the Australian Open — she
was knocked out after losing in the third round to America’s Amanda Anisimova
in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-4. In the French Open, Badosa was knocked
out after losing in the round of 32 to former world number one Aryna Sabalenka
in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-1. Her most recent appearance came at
Wimbledon, where she was knocked out after losing in the fourth round to Croatia’s
Donna Vekic with a score of 6-2, 1-6, 6-4.
