Marion Bartoli has high hopes for Czech teenage sisters Linda and Brenda Fruhvirtova who have both already made a name for themselves on the WTA tour.
The former French player follows both sisters as they try and transition into professionals. Linda is basically already there having won a WTA trophy already and getting fairly close to a top-50 debut. The fascinating part is that many consider Brenda to be the bigger talent and she's already beaten some seasoned players despite being only 15 years old.
She referenced their Australian Open result where Linda made the second week and Brenda made the main draw:
“For Brenda to be able to go into the main draw at such a young age and for Linda to be in the fourth round and go into three sets against Donna Vekic, knowing how young they are…you can see this whole new generation starting to push, the under-18s. That for me is going to be very interesting for women’s tennis. We need to have some rivalries taking place; we need to have some new, young girls that our young kids can be excited about."
She further added that she thinks they can be the future of tennis:
“I feel those girls can be the future of women’s tennis and can really push the ones who are established to do better and to push them to their highest.”
