The Ostrava Open organizer Tomas Petera has called the China U-turn money-motivated which isn't a huge surprise considering that most people reacted in a similar way.
The WTA's move to bring back Chinese tournaments has raised eyebrows among the tennis community. Some players and fans have voiced concerns about the lack of transparency regarding the Shuai Peng case, while others worry about the impact on the scheduling of other events. Despite this, the WTA remains committed to its decision, citing financial reasons for its return to China.
Petera himself agrees:
"I think the people in management had no choice. It's
about money and the WTA doesn't have it, so they decided to come back,
even though they look like fools given the events that happened."
Many players welcomed the move such as Garcia but Swiatek voiced some concern over the decision. Even so, she admitted that she trusts the organisation to do well for the players.
