Carlos Alcaraz has finally succesfully defended a trophy as the Spaniard eased past
Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-3 6-4 to win the 2023
Barcelona Open.
Alcaraz won the event last year as well and it was just a good conclusion to a really solid week from the Spaniard. Like last year, this match was largely unproblematic for the Spaniard as he was able to get it done in straight sets. It featured all the signature stuff he generally does when he plays on clay court like winners, good defence and drop shots.
He utilized a lot of drop shots with clinical precision and it worked out pretty well. Tsitsipas had an early break in hand but he couldn't handle Alcaraz who kept pushing hard most of the time. There are some glaring weaknesses in the game of Tsitsipas and Alcaraz was able to take advantage of that rather easily.
The first set finished 6-3 with the second one being 6-4. Alcaraz lost only 7 points on his first serve and only three on his second losing only 10 points on his serve in the entire match.
