Nick Kyrgios is out of action and he won't be back for a while as he withdrew from Madrid recently but he's still ranked inside the top 25 of the world.
The Australian made it an emphasis not to play too many events because he missed a good chunk of the season due to skipping clay. Despite that, he still manages to perform at a very high level and his ranking is just proof of that. He's currently 24th in the world despite not playing since October of last year.
That's quite an achievement especially since his best result of the previous year doesn't count as it was at Wimbledon. He didn't get any points from his Wimbledon run to the final which would have him ranked even higher, probably in the top 20 of the world. It's quite a good indication that when he does play, Kyrgios is one of the best.
He reacted to a social media post about his ranking simply writing:
"Pound for pound."
