BACK-TO-BACK IN STUTTGART 🚗🏆🚙 World No.1 @iga_swiatek defends her #PorscheTennis title with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Sabalenka, clinching a 13th trophy on the Hologic WTA Tour!
Just like last year Iga Swiatek is the 2023 Porsche Tennis Grand Prix champion and just like last year she defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the final 6-3 6-4.
The match was very similar to last year in the sense that Swiatek was ultimately the better player but Sabalenka gave her a bit more trouble.
The Belarusian had hoped to be able to win this match but on clay, she was simply not there yet. Their last match on hard courts last year in the WTA Finals was won by Sabalenka but here she had too many issues.
She served rather well but the rallies were the problem. Swiatek was able to move really well and attack with precision, especially the second serve which gave Sabalenka a lot of trouble.
Most of the key rallies in the match were won by the Polish player as she saved the only break point she faced while taking two out of six she had on her opponent's serve.
She was also spectacular on Sabalenka's second set winning 14 of 22 of those points and that was the main issue. Heavy pressure was applied from the start and Sabalenka folded in both sets.
