Former player Chris Evert send her support to
Amanda Anisimova as the super-talented American announced a mental-health break from the sport.
Almost one year after making a really good run at Roland Garros properly announcing that she's back, Amanda Anisimova announced that she's taking a break from tennis. These types of things are becoming more common in the sport as players try to deal with the immense pressure of being a tennis player.
Bianca Andreescu famously did it and came back stronger and more motivated and now Anisimova announced herself stepping away from the sport. She wrote:
"At this point my priority is my mental well-being and taking a break for some time. I’ve worked as hard as I could to push through it. I will miss being out there, and I appreciate all the continuous support."
Evert sent Anisimova her support on social media writing:
"It seems like a glamorous life, but it isn’t. For a teenager, it is not a normal life. Every day, you’re either a winner or a loser. You’re put on a pedestal or you’re shamed on social media. The highs and lows provide no balance. There is a price. Take your time Amanda….❤️"
