"This is where your email finds me" - Iga Swiatek embraces off-grid reset following Wimbledon exit

Iga Swiatek has decided to completely switch off from tennis and distance herself from everything following yet another painful setback at Wimbledon. She has retreated away from civilisation as she unveiled in some new Instagram posts, looking happy and relaxed in a contrasting sight to see compared to recent times.

The Pole went to Wimbledon as the defending champion and had a lot of pressure on her shoulders to mount a successful title defence and recoup as many points as she possibly could to avoid a slight slip in the rankings.

This would not occur. Her wait for a final in 2026 goes on as Alexandra Eala produced a brilliant showing to take her down and send her out of Wimbledon in the third round. Devastated, Swiatek was very sombre afterwards as she admitted that the performances were just not good enough to be deserving of more positive results.

“You need to trust the process for sure. Honestly, I don’t care anymore about the results. I’ve been so focused on them that it’s hard to continue like that," she stated.

“I’m trying to let it go. I’m not playing well, I don’t have good results, so I’m not going to expect good results, because they’re just not happening. I’m not at that level yet. I need to work from the beginning and focus on improving my tennis.”

Once her media duties were done, she was out of Wimbledon and away from anything tennis related. Swiatek is very good at switching off from her profession, able to take up any other of her hobbies or activities she enjoys in her personal life.

She chose to go out in nature on this occasion, located in her recent Instagram post somewhere rocky as she blissfully lay on a lilo near the coastline relaxing and resetting following a busy period. She was not alone, as other snaps unveiled. Pictured with companions, she was playing games with them while also reading on her kindle, another pass time that she regularly partakes in.

A video showcased the beautiful mountain scenery she was driving through, representing her willingness to go off-grid and away from any of the headlines. The caption seemed to confirm that she had no intention of communicating with the outside world. "This is where your email finds me," she wrote.

As forementioned, Swiatek has not reached a final in 2026. That streak actually goes back to September 2026 when she enjoyed a fruitful period on court. She took home the Korea Open title two months after the Wimbledon triumph which marked a sixth Grand Slam title.

In between, and very significantly, she defeated Jasmine Paolini in the Cincinnati Open final, gaining 1000 points that cemented her spot in the top two in the world. Now having plummeted down to seventh, it could get worse if she is unable to live up to those standards as tennis sets to make the transition to the North American hardcourt swing.

She could be as low as eighth in the rankings when this period comes around. if she is not careful, then the 25-year-old could end up falling outside of the top 10. Her best performances have come in the form of a semi-final at the Rome Open. There were signs of her brilliance again on court at times with some dominant wins, but it would be a harsh reality check as she fell in the fourth round of Roland Garros, a tournament that she had been dominant at in the past.

The talent is still very much there, it is just about playing the long game and trying to unlock it once more. Under Francisco Roig, Swiatek will be hopeful that their bond can get her back firing once more at the highest level. She is in desperate need for points as we reach the halfway stage of the year. In the race to the WTA Finals, Swiatek is not in the top eight, a sight that tennis fans have not been used to in recent times. Down in 12th over 1000 points behind Marta Kostyuk in eighth, there is a lot of work to do and progress to be made in the second half of this 2026 campaign for Swiatek.
