American teenager Coco Gauff has put the disappointment of the US Open behind her, as she defeated Ons Jabeur to advance to the second round at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia.
After falling in the first round at Flushing Meadows, the 16-year old put on a stellar performance as she notched a 6-4 6-3 victory over Jabeur.
“Yeah, definitely happy to get a win today, especially after a couple of tough losses back in New York," Gauff revealed. "I’m just happy to be playing."
This would be Gauff's second consecutive win over the Tunisian, as she rallied from a set down to defeat Jabeur in
Lexington last month.
"I think Ons played great today. She’s a tricky player, because she definitely changes the ball a little bit, so I knew it was going to be tough. So to get a win over her on clay is definitely really good,” said Gauff.
