After falling in the first round at Flushing Meadows, the 16-year old put on a stellar performance as she notched a 6-4 6-3 victory over Jabeur.
“Yeah, definitely happy to get a win today, especially after a couple of tough losses back in New York," Gauff revealed. "I’m just happy to be playing."
This would be Gauff's second consecutive win over the Tunisian, as she rallied from a set down to defeat Jabeur in Lexington last month.
"I think Ons played great today. She’s a tricky player, because she definitely changes the ball a little bit, so I knew it was going to be tough. So to get a win over her on clay is definitely really good,” said Gauff.
