Ashleigh Barty played a great match to beat Danish phenom Clara Tauson in straight sets and move on at the US Open.
Barty had an early match in the day at the US Open yesterday but the Australian was able to continue her winning streak with another solid performance. The first set was domination from Barty yet the 2nd was a tricky one where Barty dropped her serve when she served for the match.
On the match she said:
"Today was tricky, I think, to navigate through that second set and just trust myself and hit out."
Barty was able to break Tauson in the very next game taking a 6-5 before closing out the match with 7-5 in the 2nd set. She underlined the rebreak as key saying:
"Being able to respond straight away was a big part of that match. Just refocusing, and narrowing my focus, and remembering what I needed to do to win the match as opposed to getting flat and passive, where I was letting her control a little bit too much."
Barty will face Rogers next and she bested her several times already in 2021.
