Trevisan Rome 2
Last year's Roland Garros semi-finalist Martina Trevisan played a really strong match to take down Alycia Parks in two sets 7-6(3) 6-1 at the Madrid Open.
The first set was a very exciting one because Parks was able to match Trevisan rather well. The Italian still looked like the better player overall, certainly, the player was more used to playing on clay but Parks was able to find ways to stay in the match. A lot of had to do with Trevisan's own struggles to keep a consistent level which she rarely does.
She was up 2-0 then lost the lead to make it 2-2. She then broke once more to take a 4-2 lead and broke Parks one more time to make it 5-2 but couldn't serve it out. She lost her serve twice in a very short time allowing Parks to make it 5-5. Eventually, we ended up in a tiebreak with the Italian winning 7-3.
The second set went a lot better for Parks Trevisan as she was able to take an early lead and keep it. Her level didn't drop off this time around as she kept applying pressure and her opponent couldn't handle it. Parks rushed from one error to another and ultimately lost the set 1-6. Not a good effort from Parks as she committed 13 double faults which are too many against any opponent.
