Former world number one
Venus Williams has visited the
Rafael Nadal Academy ahead of the Canadian Open.
The 43-year-old has surprised many with her ability and
hunger to compete at the highest level despite her age.
In one more effort to keep herself ready for the upcoming
tournaments, especially the Canadian Open, Venus visited the academy owned by
men’s former world number one Nadal in his hometown Mallorca.
Venus remains one of the most successful players in the
history of women’s singles tennis, having won as many as seven Grand Slam
titles in her career.
Out of all the major events, Wimbledon remained her most
successful one where she lifted the title five times — 2000, 2001, 2005, 2007
and 2008. Other than that, she also went on to win two US Open titles in her
career in 2000 and 2001.
However, she has never managed to win the French Open or
Australian Open title in her career.
Her best outing in Melbourne was in 2003 and in 2017 but on
both occasions, she ended up on the losing side against her own sister Serena
Williams.
In the French Open, Venus once again lost to her sister
Serena in the final in 2002 in straight sets with a score of 7-5, 6-3.
