Veronika Kudermetova earns comeback win over Azarenka

Victoria Azarenka started off well taking the first set 6-2 but allowed the Russian to find some good rhythm which was enough for Kudermetova to turn around the match and win in three sets 2-6 7-6(4) 6-4.

It was a very good match in Adelaide between Azarenka and Kudermetova. The start and finish were very different but in between those things, we saw plenty of good tennis. Azarenka was better early on taking the set 6-2 due to some very solid ball striking. The set wasn't clean by either player and we saw plenty of chances for both however Azarenka played those rallies better.

The second set was played far better by both players, especially Kudermetova who did not face a single break point. She had chances to break Azarenka but failed to use them so ended up in a tiebreak. Despite opening it 3-0, Azarenka lost six points in a row to fall behind 3-6. The Russian finished it off 7-4 sending us into a very exciting third set.

It delivered once more as both players were playing well to start. Some excellent rallies no break points for either side. Azarenka ran into some issues at 4-4 allowing the Russian to break her and Kudermetova finished it off 6-4.
