The 2023 Kooyong Tennis Classic exhibition event was supposed to feature Carlos Alcaraz but he won't play at the event after picking up an injury.
Alcaraz was supposed to headline the event which generally features some very impressive fields. This year is another good one as it features Alex de Minaur, Marin Cilic and Andy Murray. Alcaraz will be replaced by Dominic Thiem who will take part in the event but the organisers are hoping to lure Djokovic and Kyrgios as well.
It's unlikely that either sign up for the event as both will play practice matches elsewhere this week. Speaking for the event Peter Johnston said:
"We're still holding a candle for Nick. It couldn't be a more perfect setting for him if he wants a hit before the Open. There's always room for Nick. And don't forget Novak (Djokovic). We've already got a pretty solid line-up but Novak is also welcome."
The 3-day event will also featured Jannik Sinner and Borna Coric on top of the playres mentioned above. It begins on Tuesday.
