World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been involved in an interesting banter with Anna Kalinskaya. In a video that was shared on the social media platform Instagram on a page called BazaarAustralia, the reigning world number one asked Kalinskaya who her fashion inspiration was.
"Who is your fashion inspiration on tennis court? asked Sabalenka. Kalinskaya’s response stunned the top player in women’s tennis as she stated: "Maybe, Coco!". In response to that, Sabalenka once again confirmed whether she heard it correctly. “Coco?,” asked the three-time Grand Slam winner. Kalinskaya then changed her answer and named the Minsk-born with laughter. “Ofcourse, it's you (Aryna Sabalenka)," she said.
Sabalenka is already regarded as the best player in women’s tennis in the singles category, along with the likes of Swiatek and Gauff. The Minsk-born star will be defending her title in Melbourne for the second consecutive year. The Australian Open 2025 will begin on January 12, and players from all over the world will showcase their talent and secure the ultimate prize.
Sabalenka lifted the title last year after beating China’s Zheng Qinwen in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-2. On the other hand, Gauff will also start the Australian Open as one of the favourites, especially after she lifted the last major tournament of 2024. The American tennis star won the ATP Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where she defeated Qinwen in the final with a score of 3-6, 6-4, 7-6. Gauff had an impressive outing in the Australian Open last year where she was eventually knocked out after losing to Sabalenka in the semifinal in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 6-4.
