Russia’s tennis star Daria Kasatkina broke down in tears during her recent vlog after consecutive defeats in the opening round of back-to-back events. The 27-year-old, who is currently world number 12, recently lost in straight sets to young American player Amanda Anisimova in the opening round of the Canadian Open with a score of 6-4, 6-3.
Before that, she lost in the round of 16 of the Citi Open to Caroline Dolehide of the USA with a score of 2-6, 7-5, 6-0. Those are not the only bad things that have happened in Kasatkina’s life. She is famous for doing a vlog, but as per the latest report, Russian authorities plan to ban YouTube in Russia. Those things impacted Kasatkina massively as she broke down in tears in her recent vlog and was seen comforted by her girlfriend.
The Tolyatti-born star is going through a mixed campaign. Her best outing this season came in the Eastbourne International, where she lifted the title after beating Canada’s Leylah Fernandez in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-4. Other than that, she also played in the final of a couple of events.
She lost to world number four Elena Rybakina in the final of the Abu Dhabi Open in straight sets with a score of 6-1, 6-4. Later, she also lost in the final of the Charleston Open, where America’s Danielle Collins came out on top in straight sets with a score of 6-2, 6-1.
Kasatkina’s next appearance will be in the Cincinnati Open where her first round opponent will be fellow Russian player Ekaterina Alexandrova. It will be the fifth meeting between the two players in professional tennis. In the previous four meetings, both players emerged victorious on two occasions each. Their most recent meeting was way back in 20222 during the Ostrava Open where Alexandrova came out on top in straight sets with a score of 6-1, 7-6.
The saddest ending of a Kasatkina vlog episode: she lost her first match twice in a row and Russia started to ban Youtube for the people
