Britain’s tennis star
Emma Raducanu has once again raised concerns
about her fitness in the latest video released by the LTA. The 21-year-old has
recently returned to action after spending a lengthy spell on the sidelines
because of a fitness concern. The return has not gone according to the plan.
In a video posted by the LTA, there are now growing concerns
about the fitness of Raducanu as she can be seen with a taped calf, suggesting
that she might be dealing with a new injury concern. During the video, the Toronto-born
discussed how she uses the service to good effect.
"So, second serve I might mix it up a little bit,” she
said in the video. So, I'll go for a kicker, where I'm trying to brush the ball
left to right. And then I might mix it with like a sliced one, body, faster.
Throw in a wide one potentially. Trying to get round the outside,"
Raducanu said in the video.
"First serves maybe, so I flatter one T. I think it's
just important to really go up through the shot on this one, not go forward.
And then a first wide... Just a lot of speed but up, because you don't want a
heavy contact, you want very thin."
Since returning to action at the start of the season, Raducanu
has played in five events but only once she managed to get past the second
round. During that time, her best outing in an event came in the Indian Wells where
she was eventually knocked out of the competition after losing to the world
number two Aryna Sabalenka with a score of 6-3, 7-5.
